Things to do on Monhegan Island in one afternoon
You will not see all of it. Pick two or three priorities and leave space between them.

Then head up Lighthouse Hill. The Monhegan Lighthouse dates to 1824 and still runs as an automated light. From up there you look down over the village and the harbor.
Back in the village, the galleries and studios are open to wander. Even guests who never buy art tend to slow down here. Have lunch at one of the small island businesses and count it as part of the day, not a break from it. Before the boat, find a spot on the shore and watch the water.

Build the island into a longer Boothbay Harbor stay
Monhegan should not be your only plan. Give yourself one day for the harbor, one for the island and at least one with nothing scheduled. Walk around, sit by the water, find a restaurant, watch the boats.
