Both of our inns are on Commercial Street, a short walk to the waterfront and the footbridge, which means a child who needs a break can have one without ending everyone's afternoon. Admiral's Quarters has the harbor lawn and fire pit for the last hour of the day, when the kids are done and the adults are not.
Book the boat trips and any timed attractions ahead of peak summer dates. Pack layers, sunscreen, bug spray and refillable bottles. Keep one indoor option in reserve for every day. And let them rest. The trip goes better.
